Addiction Treatment Centers, Drug and Alcohol Rehab and Addiction Intervention Services
Drug and Alcohol Treatment Centers
Treatment centers may take many varied approaches to rehabilitation. Some may use traditional methods, which include individual and group counseling, family counseling, and even drug therapy as a part of their rehab programs. Some may use methods that are considered to be alternative forms of addiction treatment, such as holistic methods.
Drug treatment centers that use holistic methods may have rehab programs that include anything from meditation or participation in yoga to using herbal treatments, both internally and externally, on patients. Others may actually give physical treatments such as colonics (colon cleansings), acupuncture, or certain types of massage to help patients rid their bodies of toxins that have been left behind as a result of substance abuse.
Those who are seeking addiction treatment and who have reservations about holistic treatment and some of the methods used to affect it will probably want to consider more traditional rehab programs. If a person is not comfortable with the type of treatment being given, there is a good chance the rehabilitation will not work.
The types of treatment that are provided by drug treatment centers is not the only thing that may be different. Some facilities may only provide very short-term addiction treatment, lasting only for a period of 28 to 60 days at the most. Others may offer long-term treatment, in which a patient will remain under the care of the facility, both as an in-patient and outpatient for up to a year.
Those who choose short-term treatment often have the option of extending the treatment, even if it means having to go to another facility. Others may choose long-term treatment from the outset, determined to see the rehabilitation through until success has been reached.
Some drug treatment centers are affiliated with health centers, hospitals or even universities, especially those that have medical schools which are tied in with major hospitals. Students, whether they are medical students or not, can take advantage of these facilities for addiction treatment, thus allowing them to continue their education with minimal interruption.
Fees may differ, depending on whether or not the drug treatment centers are publically or privately funded. Even with private facilities, patients may be eligible for addiction treatment on a sliding scale fee, based on their income.
Drug treatment centers can be found in all states. Website which pinpoint locations will give information on where rehabilitation services can be found. For those who may prefer to attend rehab programs in other states, because of privacy or confidentiality issues, these websites can help them locate facilities that are far enough away to provide that, but close enough for family members and loved ones to visit when they are able.
With so many drug treatment centers to choose from as well as addiction treatment programs, no one can use the excuse that one cannot be found that will suit a person's needs. Perhaps, though, that will encourage a person to admit that a problem exists and rehabilitation services are needed.
